Internal staff overwhelmingly believe that the use of technology is key to their job, according to the report “North America Internal Staff Survey 2022: Use of technology by staff,” released this week by Staffing Industry Analysts. However, respondents were less convinced that they had been fully trained in the use of that technology.
On a scale of one to six, 86% of respondents answered a “six,” indicating that technology “is absolutely key to what I am doing.” However, only 62% reported the same level of confidence that they had been fully trained.
The internal staff groupings saying they are most in need of additional technology training are on-site managers based at a client worksite; those age 66 and older; those covering the industrial segment and/or education segment; and branch managers.
Survey participants also made suggestions as to the operational tasks they believe should be automated/outsourced to liberate staff time for more productive purposes. The 12 suggestions made are: sourcing/screening recruiting prospects, editing/reformatting résumés, credentialing/reference checks, financial reporting, marketing/social media, candidate care/job notifications, job posting, onboarding, organizing lists of sales prospects, payroll/timesheets, data processing, and general administrative.
The research also discusses the functions that should be automated for temporary workers as well as buyers.
The report is based on SIA’s 2022 Internal Staff Survey, which was conducted in late 2021 and reflects the opinions of 18,681 internal staff respondents from 233 staffing firms. SIA corporate members can access the full report online.
