Two diversity-owned staffing firms have joined forces. Atrium, a New York-based staffing firm, acquired a majority stake in Gibbs Hybrid, a London-based recruitment firm. The deal closed May 19.

Both firms are led by female founders who appeared on the latest Global Power 150 Women in Staffing list — Rebecca Cenni-Leventhal at Atrium and Farida Gibbs at Gibbs Hybrid.

Atrium ranks among the largest US staffing firms, according to SIA research. In addition, Atrium — certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council — will appear on SIA’s upcoming Diversity-Owned Staffing Firms list.

Atrium founder and CEO Cenni-Leventhal said Gibbs Hybrid’s track record of success made it a natural fit for her company.

“In addition, as a WBENC-certified company, joining forces with Europe’s largest [Minority Supplier Development UK]-certified minority woman-owned business will further empower us collectively in our forward together mission to champion diversity, equity and inclusion,” she said.

The acquisition expands Atrium’s footprint from the US and Canada to the UK, Ireland, Poland and Luxembourg.

Gibbs Hybrid’s services include permanent and contract recruiting, MSP services and RPO services.

“Being a minority women-owned business, we understand the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in the workforce and the supply chain,” said Gibbs, founder and CEO of Gibbs Hybrid. “By joining the Atrium family, we can continue to help our customers build inclusive teams that drive success, guidance and mentorship and, more importantly, become role models for our industry.”

The Gibbs Hybrid management team will remain in place. Farida Gibbs will help spearhead EMEA operations as part of the Atrium family of companies.

Terms of the transaction were not announced.
