A survey by KPMG found that 82% of US companies are letting office-based employees decide when they feel safe and comfortable returning to the office. Only 18% are mandating that employees return to the office by a certain date.

The survey found that employers were also implementing a variety of measures to manage employee risk amid Covid-19. Social distancing was the most frequent activity, cited by 52% of businesses. It was followed by contact tracing at 48% and daily symptom checks at 44%.

Next to physical health, businesses are also focusing on profitability, cash flow and other financial planning.

KPMG released the survey results today. It included US senior executives representing 100 companies with annual revenue of at least $1 billion each and took place in September.
