Tools to Help Employers Promote Worker Safety Amid Covid-19
The American Staffing Association announces new resources to help businesses return safely back to work at “brick-and-mortar” job sites as the nation continues to navigate Covid-19. The resources, available via the new ASA Safely Back to Work microsite, are applicable to all employers—not just staffing agencies—and are available for download at no cost.
The new ASA Safely Back to Work Best Practice Protocols include 77 measures to help further employee safety in different industry sectors and work environments during the pandemic and in the post-pandemic world. The guide was originally spearheaded by the International Alliance of Human Resource Service Industry Players, led by the Adecco Group, ManpowerGroup Global, and Randstad NV, and developed by consulting firm McKinsey & Co.
“For the staffing and recruiting industry, nothing is more important than ensuring that employees are safe at work and Covid-19 has intensified the industry’s focus and commitment to worker safety and well-being,” said Richard Wahlquist, ASA president and chief executive officer. “As part of that commitment, ASA is providing several new resources to all employers to help them safely navigate the challenges of our new world of work, including the Safely Back to Work Best Practice Protocols. ASA commends the Adecco Group, ManpowerGroup Global, and Randstad NV for initiating the development of the Safely Back to Work Best Practice Protocols and the World Employment Confederation for leading efforts to share the recommendations on the global stage.”
ASA is also offering the Safely Back to Work Pledge, which individuals can sign to publicly show their companies’ commitment to the health and welfare of their employees and the recommendations contained in the Safely Back to Work Best Practice Protocols. Signatories will receive a special virtual badge to add to their company websites and other marketing materials, and will be publicly recognized on the microsite.
In addition, ASA is participating in the National Safety Council Safe Actions for Employee Returns initiative to help guide employers in safely resuming traditional work and operations now and in a post-pandemic environment. The SAFER resources are accessible via the Safely Back to Work microsite.
