Canada lost 79,500 jobs in October compared to September, according to the ADP Canada National Employment Report released today by the ADP Research institute.
“The labor market posted a decline in October,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, VP and co-head of the ADP Research Institute. “Trade, transportation and utilities; construction; and healthcare experienced the biggest job losses.”
Here are October’s job losses and gains by industry:
- Goods producing:
- Manufacturing, down 4,300
- Construction, down 5,800
- Natural resources and mining, down 400
- Service providing:
- Trade/transportation and utilities, down 31,500
- Information, up 300
- Finance/real estate, down 3,200
- Professional/business services, down 4,900
- Professional/technical, down 900
- Management of companies, up 500
- Administrative and support, down 4,500
- Education and healthcare, down 26,800
- Education services, down 4,100
- Healthcare, down 22,700
- Leisure and hospitality, down 3,900
- Other services, up 900
