While the number of new job postings online has been severely impacted by the coronavirus crisis, signs are pointing toward a recovery to normal levels, according to Danish job board Jobindex.
At first, the coronavirus crisis and the restrictions that followed caused the number of new job postings online to fall drastically, but the trend reversed in early April. As the community gradually reopened, progress continued. Currently, the number of new paid job postings placed online is 80%. of the normal level. At the beginning of April, job ads were down to 45% of the normal levels.
In February 2020, 24,000 new job postings were posted online, a level similar to what Jobindex has seen in recent years. In March, the level dropped to 17,700 new job postings posted online. In April, the level fell further to 15,700 new job listings. But since April, the trend has reversed, and in May 17,100 new job postings were posted online, signalling a recovery.
“If you only look at the development of new ads placed on jobindex.dk, then we can follow the development at the weekly level, giving us a better insight into the very current development,” Jobindex stated. “The weekly numbers show continued progress, and that the number of new job ads posted online has now been over two weeks in a row at 80% of the level one would expect without pre-coronavirus.”
