Facebook looking to build gig marketplace (Business Insider)

Facebook is looking to build a services feature within its marketplace that would connect gig workers with users looking for home repair or freelance jobs, Business Insider reported, citing a report in The Information. The move could position the social media giant as a competitor to gig economy marketplaces such as Fiverr International Ltd. (NYSE: FVRR), TaskRabbit and Angie’s List. The company is forming a team focused on this new initiative, but Facebook could decide to ultimately abandon the effort, according to The Information’s report.
