Hawaii posts highest jobless rate among states for second month in a row

Hawaii posted the highest jobless rate among states in October, at 14.3%, for the second month in a row, the US Department of Labor reported today citing seasonally adjusted data. Nevada came next at 12.0%.

Nebraska recorded the lowest jobless rate among all states at 3.0%; Vermont was next-lowest at 3.2%.

The BLS also noted that Hawaii and Nevada posted the largest year-over-year increases in jobless rates among all states. Hawaii was up 11.6 percentage points and Nevada was up 8.3 percentage points. Most states — 47 as well as the District of Columbia — posted year-over-year increases in their jobless rates.
