ICON Medical Network, a national locum tenens provider, has been acquired by healthcare staffing veteran Janet Elkin.
Launched in 2010, ICON is headquartered in Lake Oswego, Oregon, a Portland suburb. The company has focused on the Pacific Northwest and has revenue under $10 million, but Elkin told SIA she plans to expand and is hiring nationwide. Additional acquisitions are also in the works.
The transaction closed Jan. 1; terms were not disclosed.
Elkin was inducted into SIA’s Staffing 100 Hall of Fame in 2017 and named to the Global Power 50 Women in Staffing list in 2020. She has nearly two decades of experience in the healthcare staffing industry including as president and CEO of GHR Healthcare and in leadership roles at Recruit IQ Staffing and Supplemental Healthcare.
“ICON Medical Network has a stellar reputation in the industry due to the out-of-the-box thinking that the team has been driving for over a decade,” Elkin said. “Together, we have the network and experience to advance locum tenens in the healthcare industry, while continuing to put people first.”
Elkin will serve as CEO, in charge of the strategy and direction of the company and spearhead its national growth plan. Ashley Simpson, prior managing partner of ICON, will remain on board as chief development officer, and Tammy Bills, formerly VP and controller at Supplemental Health Care, joined ICON as CFO.
Dr. Therus Kolff will join the board as an advisor; Kolff founded CompHealth Inc., one of the first locum tenens companies, which now operates as CHG Healthcare Services Inc. In addition, Milan Boulette, a longtime locum tenens industry leader who most recently served as VP of managed services at Cross Country Locums, joined ICON as the senior VP of client services.
