HR leaders today are charged with managing a rapidly changing landscape, covering everything from workplace flexibility to the transformation brought by gen AI to building culture, driving change, retaining talent and much more. Staying abreast of such changes is vital and goes hand in hand with staying prepared for the major shifts and megatrends that can impact the workforce and company operations.
Although fewer than half of CHROs can identify megatrends, according to estimates by Dieter Veldsman, chief HR scientist and organizational development specialist at the Academy to Innovate HR, he says this skill can be learned.
Veldsman, a speaker at the recent Elevate People, Ignite Change (EPIC) conference in Las Vegas, believes HR leaders can take specific steps to strengthen this muscle. He sat down with Human Resource Executive for a video interview at EPIC to share actionable advice for identifying megatrends, the challenges to developing the skill and examples of organizations doing it right.
