Last month’s unveiling of Cornerstone OnDemand’s new learning and development solution, dubbed Talent Experience Platform (TXP), is a sign that employee talent tools continue to mature as vendors add more L&D features in a single suite. The move aims to streamline employees’ career development path while reducing the number of tools that HR must manage.
Although Cornerstone TXP is available now, the vendor already has announced new features that will be added to the offering early next year. They include the Opportunity Marketplace, which helps match newly skilled employees with career growth opportunities; Content Studio for matching content to an employee’s preferences and skills initiatives; and Skills Innovation, a proprietary skills database that will be open to the public.
According to analysts and HRE columnist Josh Bersin, Cornerstone’s forthcoming Opportunity Marketplace shares many features of offerings from Gloat, Fuel50, Eightfold and other providers—but it does boast a key difference.
“What’s unique here is that Cornerstone’s integrated LMS and talent management system can recommend courses, projects, developmental assignments, mentors and jobs,” he writes in his blog. “The other talent marketplace vendors still do not index content well, so they are more like ‘position matching systems’ today.”
The current version of TXP unites the company’s expanded portfolio of growth-centric learning and talent solutions with “human-centered experiences, deep talent intelligence and an open and agile architecture,” according to a Cornerstone press statement.
Cornerstone TXP consists of four elements for delivering what it calls “people, talent and business transformation.” These four elements start with what the vendor calls a “holistic people growth experience” that offers personalized and engaging learning experiences. The other elements include an “intelligent tech fabric” featuring an AI-powered engine for collecting and analyzing skills, content and people data; a suite of learning, performance and talent management tools; and finally, an open architecture that can grow as the client’s needs grow.
What does TXP mean for HR leaders? According to Karthik Suri, Cornerstone’s chief product officer, HR and L&D professionals continue to grapple with “massive transformation in the talent space.” This includes changes in how people work, their evolving technology needs and a fundamental shift in how human connections are nurtured at the workplace.
“With our talent experience platform, HR leaders have better cohesion among tools, enabling them to drive strong business outcomes in this new world of work,” says Suri.
Cornerstone TXP also addresses a key challenge for HR and L&D leaders: connection and connectivity.
Suri explains that, historically, HR departments have had multiple L&D and other tools in their arsenal, often resulting in overlapping solutions. Cornerstone intends for TXP to become the “intelligent connector” of those tools and the data in them.
He adds, “With the right insights and growth-centric tools, TXP gives HR leaders the full context, insights and visibility they need to develop and retain their people.”
Suri believes that the new offering will bring relief to today’s busy HR and L&D teams. “TXP is a new blueprint,” he says, “for talent leaders to champion transformation in their organizations, inspire their people to grow, enable business strategies and deliver business outcomes.”
