A letter sent Jan. 24 to the White House Covid-19 Response Team coordinator — signed by nearly 200 House lawmakers — called on federal agencies with competition and consumer protection authority to investigate staffing firms’ conduct and practices, McKnight’s Senior Living reported. “We have received reports that the nurse staffing agencies are vastly inflating prices, by two, three or more times pre-pandemic rates, and then taking 40% or more of the amount being charged to the hospitals for themselves in profits,” the letter states.

Coming soon in the January/February 2022 issue of Staffing Industry Review magazine, Toby Malara, VP of government relations with the American Staffing association, discusses the healthcare pricing controversy. The print issue will be available in mid-February and online Feb. 15.
