Massachusetts posted the highest jobless rate among all states in June, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today citing seasonally adjusted data. The jobless rate in Massachusetts was 17.4% in June.
New Jersey posted the next-highest at 16.6%; it was followed by New York at 15.7%.
Massachusetts also posted the highest year-over-year increase in its unemployment rate with an increase of 14.5 percentage points.
The state with the lowest unemployment rate in June was Kentucky at 4.3%. Kentucky was the only state that did not have a year-over-year increase in its unemployment rate.
