Minneapolis and San Jose, California, post lowest jobless rates in June

Minneapolis and San Jose, California, posted the lowest jobless rates among all large US metro areas in June, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Minneapolis’ jobless rate was 2.2%, while San Jose recorded a rate of 2.3%.

The highest jobless rate among large metro area in June was in Cleveland at 6.0%. The Las Vegas area followed with the second-highest rate at 5.7%.

All 51 of the largest US metro areas with 1 million or more in population recorded year-over-year decreases in their unemployment rates in June. The largest decrease was in Los Angeles, where the jobless rate fell 4.6 percentage points.

Among metro areas of all sizes, the Portsmouth, New Hampshire, metro area had the lowest jobless rate at 1.8%. The highest was in Yuma, Arizona, at 17.2%.
