More employers are requiring vaccines in the wake of President Biden’s announcement of a mandate for large companies, the Kaiser Family Foundation reported. It found 25% of workers say their employer has required them to get a Covid-19 vaccine, up from 9% in June.

It also found that 37% of unvaccinated workers — representing 5% of adults overall — say they would leave their jobs if their employer required them to get a vaccine or get weekly testing. A greater percentage of workers would leave their job, some 70%, if weekly testing is not an option. However, 46% said they would opt for weekly testing.

Still, the Kaiser Family Foundation noted only 5% of unvaccinated workers have left a job because of vaccine requirements. And just a quarter of all adults say they know someone who left a job because of a vaccine requirement.

The organization also reported that while 25% of workers say their employer has required vaccination, 21% who say their employer hasn’t required a vaccination want their employer to do so. And 51% don’t want their employer to require a vaccination.

The Kaiser Family Foundation’s survey included a random telephone sample of 1,519 adults and took place from Oct. 14 to Oct. 24 in English and Spanish.
