The American Staffing Association is proud to join with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy and stakeholders across the country in the celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the value and talent of workers with disabilities in the U.S.
In 2020, ASA and ODEP entered into a formal alliance that focused on helping staffing agencies learn how to help improve access to new careers for people with disabilities. In the following years, ASA has hosted webinars and conference sessions on inclusive practices and launched a website for employers looking to enhance inclusivity in their hiring practices and in their office culture.
“Staffing agencies can play a major role in supporting disability inclusion for job seekers and workers,” said Richard Wahlquist, chief executive officer at ASA. “By focusing on abilities and skills rather than disabilities and accommodations, staffing agencies can help to break down barriers and create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to thrive in the workplace. “During this month of recognizing the importance of ‘Access for All,’ we’re proud to partner with the Office of Disability Employment Policy, the Job Accommodation Network, and other stakeholders to help staffing agencies open doors to opportunities for even more of America’s disabled job seekers and workers.”
