The American Staffing Association has published a guide to help staffing clients and their contractor management services (CMS) providers more effectively screen and qualify staffing firms.
Businesses use CMS providers to screen and qualify the safety practices of construction and other contractors that deliver a particular product or operational result. Staffing firms that place temporary workers on assignment are different from these contractors, in that they do not produce a product or end result. Therefore, the paper, which is designed to be shared with clients and CMS providers and was drafted under the auspices of a working group of ASA safety committee members, states that CMS providers should not assess staffing firms as they do traditional contractors. Instead, staffing clients and CMS providers should take into consideration the unique aspects of the staffing business model and tailor their screening processes to more effectively assess staffing firms’ safety practices and performance.
