Hours worked in the US staffing industry rose 9% year over year in the week ended June 4, according to the latest SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator, released today.

Year-over-year growth rates for hours worked in the US staffing industry had been slowing gradually since the beginning of April. However, hours worked in the week of the 2022 Memorial Day Holiday appeared stronger than in the same week last year.

The SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator measures hours worked. It comprises two sets of analyses: a year-over-year comparison showing how the most recent week compared to the same week 12 months previously and an indexed value that has been benchmarked against data from the week ended Jan. 19, 2019.

Week ending June 4, 2022 Indexed value Year over year Week over week
US staffing 104 +9% -0.1%
Commercial staffing 90 +5% +1.1%
Professional staffing 136 17% -2.9%

In the week ended June 4, the index value was 104, following readings of 105 in each of the prior two weeks as revised.
