Talent platform Upwork Inc. (NASDAQ: UPWK) appointed Erica Gessert as chief financial officer, effective April 25.
Gessert joins Upwork from PayPal, where she held several leadership roles, including chief transformation officer and senior vice president of finance and analytics. Prior to that, Gessert held leadership roles at Sprint Corp. and previously served as head of investor relations for Virgin Mobile USA.
“We are thrilled to welcome Erica to Upwork and look forward to benefiting from her decades of leadership experience across finance, operations, analytics and investor relations,” Upwork President and CEO Hayden Brown said.
Gessert will play a pivotal role in delivering Upwork’s strategy to innovate and scale the company’s platform, Brown said.
