The ADP National Employment Report released today found the US added 455,000 in March from February. The “leisure and hospitality” sector led the way by adding 161,000 jobs, though employment rose across the board except in the “information” sector, where job growth was flat.

“Job growth was broad-based across sectors in March, contributing to the nearly 1.5 million jobs added for the first quarter in 2022,” said Nela Richardson, chief economist, ADP. “Businesses are hiring specifically among the service providers which had the most ground to make up due to early pandemic losses. However, a tight labor supply remains an obstacle for continued growth in consumer-facing industries.”

March’s job growth is down from the 486,000 jobs that ADP estimated the US had added in February — upwardly revised from the 475,000 initially reported. March’s increase is also down from the 512,000 added in January and 780,000 gained in December.
